Showed the completely finished group music video project in class. I did the best that I could in flash. I’m done. And I’m never listening to that song ever again.
My group are still trying to finish the project. Since I have the most experience in the group with flash, I have to do the actually video rendering. The benefit and disadvantage of working in groups is that everyone is diferent and bring something diferent to the group. In this case, it would have helped if we all had experience working in flash before this class so that we could have divided up the work more equally. The good thing was that we each able to come up with ideas to solve issues the others couldn’t. Well, that’s life.
My boyfriend recently introduced me to a site called Miniclip which hosts flash games. I pretty much suck at really video games, so I pretty much stick to timed task based games. As long as you have the plug-ins, anyone can play these games. They have just about any genre of game you can think of(assuming it can be supported on a flash game).
I know we need to have a theme in our t-shirt designs, so I continued with humor. The first is a joke between my boyfriend and I because they say football for soccer in India (same a in the U.K.) so this gave birth to this shirt. The second is based off of a picture from Engrish.com that said “Please do not feed the toilet” and gremlins. The last was based off on idea of my boyfriend’s.
Website I like:
Subeta.net is based off of the idea of neopets but it grew into a teen to adult themed website. Yes you have pets, but the art for those pets isn’t always so cutesy. You can make them zombies or bloody or machinist. There are website-wide events that happen annually and ones that only happen once. They sometimes offer real life prizes during these events, such as Nintendo Wiis or Ipods. I was never interested in neopets, this site is fun for the most part. The only problem is that you have to live on it to get the most out of it.

Working on the Pink Floyd song Eclipse with Chad & Chris
After much insanity and crying, I can finally work on homework again on my computer.
Website I like:
I am currently a big fan of the online manga site MangaFox. I am into manga and anime, but don’t really have the time or space for downloading them anymore. So I go to manga fox to read manga online when I have time and keep up this my current favorite series. Because of the way I have my preferences setup on Firefox, I don’t have a problem with ads, but I know that my boyfriend sometimes does. Other fans upload the newest manga characters, but it is pretty reliable in terms of update speed. This is not a good site for people who have dial-up though.
Walter Benjamin entry:
That did sort of make my head explode. Basically I think this means that the more common something becomes (not matter how great it originally was) its effect comes tumbling down. Even though the context is difference, it still waters down the entire experience.
Kevin Kelley entry:
I was absent the day this was dealt with. As far as I could tell, Kelly was saying that we want free things, but we want them to our own person liking/convenience. We are sometimes willing to go to great lengths for these “things”. This is very true for me. This is a bad example: when I’m hungry at school right after a class, instead of waiting till I get back to my apartment where I have already paid for food, I good to the cafeteria and buy food there. That is a watered down version of what he is saying anyway.
I currently typing on my boyfriend’s 7 year old PC laptop. Why? It is because my Mac Laptop is at the Mac Store being fixed. My graphics card has some sort of defect that is causing it to mess with my logic board and disable my display screen. Apparently this is common with many of the Macbook Pros that came out around the same time as mine. Since it is NVIDIA’s fault, they pay for Apple to fix the laptop and the new piece of hardware. Basically, I don’t have to pay for anything.
I like Deviant Art and have an account there. My boyfriend uses it as a way for possible future employers to see his portfolio as do many professionals. The special function that we use doesn’t allow use to have as many images up as with the regular deviant account set up. I do know they have extra features offered to people who pay for their accounts as opposed to the regular free accounts. It has a wide range of art on it, from amateurs to professionals offering good prints of their work. I only use it for images, but can use it for writing too. The only downside to this site is that it is easy for people to steal from it and, as someone who used to be staff told me, people are trying to turn it into myspace. People, probably kids, have arguments on it and cause “a lot of drama”. I stay away from that though.
